[WATCH] Dilon Heyliger Pulls Off A Spectacular Boundary-Line Catch To Dismiss Aiden Markram

Canada seamer Dilon Heyliger delivered a standout moment in the field during the T20 World Cup 2026 group-stage encounter against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, February 9. The 36-year-old took a stunning boundary catch to dismiss Aiden Markram for 59 in the first innings.

Earlier, Canada had missed a crucial opportunity when Ansh Patel dropped a catch in the third over, allowing the Proteas to gain early momentum. Quinton de Kock made full use of the reprieve and, alongside his captain, powered South Africa to 66 runs in the powerplay.

While Canada managed to strike for the first time in the seventh over, South Africa maintained the pressure through the partnership between Markram and Ryan Rickelton. Markram, in particular, looked in excellent rhythm after bringing up his half-century from just 28 balls and went after left-arm spinner Ansh Patel in the 12th over.

After striking a boundary off the second ball, Markram attempted to go over the top and target long-on on the very next delivery. The shot appeared destined to sail over the ropes, but Dilon Heyliger sprinted to his left from long-on, judged the jump perfectly on the move, and managed to cling on to the ball with a full-stretch effort.

Ansh Patel Strikes After Heyliger’s Stunning Catch In SA vs CAN T20 World Cup 2026

Ryan Rickelton was dismissed in a fashion similar to Aiden Markram after trying to attack Ansh Patel in the very next over. The left-hander made fair contact with his slog but couldn’t get enough distance to clear the mid-wicket fence. Unlike Heyliger’s earlier effort, Harsh Thaker was presented with a straightforward catch and completed it comfortably.

At the time of writing, South Africa are 138 for 3 in the 14th over, with David Miller batting alongside Dewald Brevis.
