[WATCH]- Dinesh Karthik Faces Light-Hearted Dig From Ex-England Captain After Commentary Blunder

Former England captain Nasser Hussain playfully mocked fellow Sky Sports commentator Dinesh Karthik for a microphone mishap during Day 4 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford, Manchester. Hussain jokingly reminded Karthik that the mic is just as important, especially for a newcomer in commentary.

Dinesh Karthik, who represented India across all formats, began his commentary journey with Sky Sports during The Hundred in 2021. He was also part of the broadcast team for the World Test Championship (WTC) held in England that same year and returned as a commentator for this year’s WTC final as well.

Speaking in a video shared by Sky Sports, Hussain said:

“Dinesh Karthik, it’s been a long day and you are new to this commentary gig. But I’d say your microphone is equally important. This happened at tea.

The 57-year-old also took a playful dig at Michael Atherton, recalling an old incident and saying:

“Don’t worry, happens to the best. Michael Atherton, he once tried to commentate using a coffee cup.”

In 2024, Dinesh Karthik retired from all formats of cricket and subsequently joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru as their batting coach ahead of IPL 2025.

India Slow Down England On Day 4 Of Manchester Test

Team India have shown strong resilience after conceding a massive 311-run lead and losing two early wickets. KL Rahul and Shubman Gill steadied the innings with an unbeaten 174-run partnership, taking India to 174/2 at the end of Day 4. Gill is not out on 78, while Rahul is approaching a century, just 13 runs away.

Earlier in the day, England resumed on 544/7 and were eventually bowled out for 669, stretching their lead to 311 runs. Joe Root (150) and Ben Stokes (141) starred with brilliant centuries. Although Chris Woakes struck early by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal and B Sai Sudharsan for ducks, Rahul and Gill have kept India’s hopes alive, aiming for a draw.
