[WATCH]- ENG vs IND 1st Test: England Player Borrows Jaiswal’s Bat For Shadow Practice

England batter Harry Brook was amusingly spotted shadow batting with Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s bat on Day 1 of the first Test at Headingley, Leeds. In a video shared by England’s Barmy Army, Brook, a right-hander, was seen playfully practising a few strokes using the left-hander’s bat. He also appeared to share a light-hearted chat with Jaiswal.

The fun moment seemed to happen during a drinks break, while Jaiswal was receiving treatment after removing his helmet. Earlier, Jaiswal made history by becoming the first Indian to score a Test century at Headingley, reaching the landmark in 144 balls with a single off Brydon Carse in the 49th over.

After England chose to bowl first, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul made the most of the favourable batting conditions at Headingley. The duo put together a solid 91-run partnership in 24.5 overs before Brydon Carse dismissed Rahul for 42 off 78 balls.

Debutant B Sai Sudharsan couldn’t get off the mark, falling for a duck as Ben Stokes trapped him down the leg side, with wicketkeeper Jamie Smith pulling off a brilliant catch.

India Suffer Setback With Jaiswal’s Departure

England captain Ben Stokes pulled off another moment of brilliance after tea by removing the well-set opener for 101. Coming around the wicket, he knocked over the off-stump to end a crucial 129-run partnership between Jaiswal and Shubman Gill.

Though it brought some relief to the hosts, India still remain ahead as their skipper approaches a century. The visitors are eyeing their first Test series win in England since 2007. Stokes will be eager to prevent that and also protect his unbeaten home series record. India drew 2-2 in 2021–22 and lost 4-1 in England back in 2018.
