Etihad Airways, an airline based in the UAE, has started a partnership with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), five-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The collaboration was announced at a special event held in Chennai, where several CSK players proudly exhibited their newly-branded jerseys featuring the Etihad logo on the back.

However, the most memorable moment of the occasion was the unveiling of MS Dhoni’s jersey. Revered as “Captain Cool,” Dhoni was not physically present at the event, yet his jersey was revealed using innovative technologies. Utilizing LED lights and a large screen, the unveiling ceremony was enhanced, evoking enthusiastic reactions from fans present, who cheered and whistled in excitement at the mention of Dhoni’s name.

Etihad Airways released a statement: “Today marks the start of an extraordinary journey as we welcome the Chennai Super Kings to our sports portfolio. Cricket’s global resonance unites diverse communities, reflecting the shared values of Etihad and Chennai Super Kings. Our collaboration goes beyond sponsorship; it’s a celebration of a shared ethos, a testament to the collective spirit of Etihad and the Chennai Super Kings.”

“Cricket in India is truly incredible and the Chennai Super Kings fans really showcase exactly what it means to love and have true passion for the game in this incredible country.”

Prior to this partnership with CSK, Etihad Airways had been associated with the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. Following their collaboration with CSK, Arik De, the Chief Revenue Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed his excitement, emphasizing that the new arrangement transcends mere sponsorship, representing a “celebration of shared values and principles.”

Kasi Viswanathan, the Chief Executive Officer of the Chennai Super Kings, expressed his delight with the fresh agreement, underlining its significance beyond conventional sponsorship. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni has commenced training for the upcoming season.

He said: “This collaboration goes beyond the boundaries of a traditional sponsorship – it’s about creating an extraordinary experience for our fans and setting new standards in sports partnerships.”

Despite initial concerns about his availability following knee surgery, the cricketer from Ranchi is reportedly in good health and is anticipated to join the CSK camp, slated to commence in the third or fourth week of February.
