[WATCH]- Fan Breaches Security, Enters The Field To Meet Rohit Sharma During IND vs BAN T20 World Cup Warm-Up Match

During the T20 World Cup warm-up game between India and Bangladesh, a fan broke through security to meet India captain Rohit Sharma while Bangladesh was batting. The incident took place at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York on Saturday, June 1.

In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), a fan ran onto the field to meet Rohit before being subdued by USA police. Rohit appeared to ask the officers to be gentle with the fan.

Rohit Sharma arguably boasts the largest fanbase next to Virat Kohli. At 37, he recently led India to the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. He previously guided the team to the semifinals of the 2022 T20 World Cup, where the eventual champions, England, defeated them.

Rohit aims to secure an ICC title for India, ending a decade-long drought since their last victory at the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Rohit Sharma on the verge of a major T20I milestone ahead of the T20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma is close to a significant milestone ahead of the T20 World Cup, needing just 26 runs to become the third player, after Virat Kohli and Babar Azam, to achieve 4,000 runs in T20Is. He aims to reach this milestone as India begins their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

Rohit currently has 3,974 runs in 143 innings (151 matches) with a strike rate of 139.97, including five centuries and 29 fifties. In comparison, Kohli has 4,037 runs in 109 innings, and Azam has 4,203 runs in 112 innings.

Additionally, Rohit is close to becoming the first player to hit 200 sixes in T20Is, with 190 maximums so far. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is second with 173 sixes, and Ireland’s Paul Stirling is third with 128. Glenn Maxwell of Australia and England’s Jos Buttler are tied for fourth with 125 sixes each.

In the warm-up game, Rohit scored 23 runs off 19 balls, hitting one six and two boundaries. India won the match by 62 runs.
