Virat Kohli was initially set to play in Delhi’s previous Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Saurashtra, but his return to domestic cricket was postponed due to a neck sprain. Other senior Team India players, including Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishabh Pant, featured in the last round of matches.

Before the match against Railways, Kohli sought guidance from former Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar. The 36-year-old was seen training under Bangar’s supervision in Mumbai before heading to Delhi.
