Former India head coach Ravi Shastri praised MS Dhoni following his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame on Monday, June 9. The 63-year-old highlighted Dhoni’s calm and consistent demeanor, noting that he remained unchanged whether in victory or defeat.

Dhoni received ICC Hall of Fame honours on Monday, joining other iconic players such as Matthew Hayden and Graeme Smith.

“He gets out for the zero he’s the same, he wins the World Cup he’s the same, he gets a hundred he’s the same, 200 the same. There is absolutely no difference,” Shastri said about Dhoni at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Monday.

Dhoni served Indian cricket for almost 15 years, from 2004 to 2019, and remains the only captain to have won all three major ICC white-ball titles. Under his leadership, India clinched the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011, and the Champions Trophy in 2013. He also guided India to the top of the Test rankings for the first time in 2009.

Dhoni Joins Cricket’s Hall of Fame

MS Dhoni has been inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, becoming part of an elite group of Indian cricketers that includes legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Anil Kumble.

“It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever,” Dhoni told the ICC website.

Though he retired from international cricket in August 2020, Dhoni still features in the IPL with Chennai Super Kings. Over his career, he played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs, and 98 T20Is for India.
