Star all-rounder Glenn Phillips once again put his outstanding fielding on display during the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter between New Zealand and the UAE, being played on Tuesday, February 10, in Chennai. After winning the toss, UAE chose to bat first and put up a strong showing against the Kiwis, registering a competitive 173/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
The standout moment came on the final delivery of the 11th over, when Phillips produced a breathtaking effort to prevent a sure boundary. Mitchell Santner bowled a short ball as Muhammad Waseem moved across to play the pull shot in front of square. The timing suggested the ball would comfortably reach the fence.
But Phillips had other ideas. Sprinting from deep mid-wicket to deep square leg, he covered remarkable ground before launching into a superb dive. Showing great athleticism and presence of mind, he quickly got back on his feet, gathered the ball cleanly, and released a sharp throw back to the wicketkeeper, leaving everyone in awe.

Glenn Phillips Adds Bowling Impact To His All-Round Effort
Glenn Phillips made his presence felt not just with his athleticism in the field but also with the ball. The right-arm off-spinner dismissed Harshit Kaushik in the 16th over of UAE’s innings. While he proved a bit costly, conceding 30 runs in his two overs, Phillips delivered a vital breakthrough during the closing stages of the innings.
As New Zealand prepare to chase the target, Phillips is also expected to play a key role with the bat. He comes into the match in excellent form, having played a crucial knock in their previous outing against Afghanistan. In that game, he helped the Kiwis successfully chase down 183 in just 17.5 overs, finishing with five wickets in hand.
After New Zealand slipped to 14/2 with the early losses of Finn Allen and Rachin Ravindra, Phillips counter-attacked with a rapid 42 off 25 deliveries. His fluent innings, struck at an impressive rate of 168, featured seven fours and one six, turning the momentum firmly in New Zealand’s favour.
