Indian cricket fans were left in astonishment during the third and final ODI match against Bangladesh as the skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, displayed an uncontrolled outburst of anger upon being given out LBW. Her passionate and expressive demeanour is well known, but her reaction on Saturday (July 22) crossed the line and drew significant attention.

As the experienced right-hander missed an attempted sweep shot and was adjudged LBW, Harmanpreet Kaur couldn’t contain her frustration and vented it by smashing the stumps with her bat. Harmanpreet Kaur not only glared at the umpire but also took her bat and aggressively struck the stumps before giving the standing official another death stare, all while gesturing that she had indeed made contact with the ball.

The incident occurred in the 34th over of India’s run chase, with Harmanpreet batting at 14 off 20. The team was trying to chase down Bangladesh’s total of 225/4 on a slow Mirpur track. Her attempted sweep against left-arm spinner Nahida Akter seemingly missed the delivery, resulting in a straightforward LBW decision.

Though the umpire’s finger went up, Harmanpreet Kaur remained convinced that she had hit the ball before it struck her pad. This perception triggered her loss of temper, which surprised everyone, including the commentators covering the game.
