[WATCH]- Harry Brook Mocks Prasidh Krishna Moments Before His Dismissal In ENG vs IND 1st Test

England’s Harry Brook playfully taunted Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna by questioning his ability to hit big sixes, just moments before dismissing him on Day 4 (Monday, June 23) of the 1st Test at Headingley, Leeds. The cheeky exchange took place right before the final delivery of the 96th over in India’s second innings, as Brook, stationed at first slip, approached Prasidh with a sly remark.

“Can you hit big sixes?”

In return, the Indian bowler had a witty response:

“If I had to, I would be called Brook.”

But on the very next ball, off-spinner Shoaib Bashir floated one outside the off stump. Prasidh stretched forward attempting a cross-batted sweep, but couldn’t connect cleanly, allowing Josh Tongue to take a well-judged catch at deep mid-wicket.

The 29-year-old was dismissed for a duck after facing 11 deliveries, bringing India’s second innings to a close at 364 runs in 96 overs. This left England with a target of 371. KL Rahul (137) and Rishabh Pant (118) led the scoring effort, while Brydon Carse and Josh Tongue claimed three wickets apiece.

By the end of Day 4, England had reached 21 without loss in six overs, still requiring 350 runs for victory. Ben Duckett (9) and Zak Crawley (12) remained unbeaten at the crease.

Krishna Stops Brook At 99, Breaks Through In England’s First Innings

Harry Brook’s playful taunt at Prasidh Krishna during India’s second innings seemed to have an immediate effect, as the Indian fast bowler was dismissed on the very next delivery while attempting a big shot.

Interestingly, earlier in the match during England’s first innings, it was Prasidh who had the last laugh—he dismissed Brook for 99, denying him what would have been his ninth Test century. It was the first time in Brook’s 26-Test career that he was out on 99.

So far in his brief Test career, Prasidh has claimed 11 wickets in four matches, averaging 33.18 with a strike rate of 40.9. His best figures in an innings stand at 3 for 42.
