[WATCH]- Heartbroken Marizanne Kapp In Tears After Another WPL 2025 Final Defeat

Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Marizanne Kapp was left in tears after her team suffered another heartbreak in the WPL 2025 final, losing to Mumbai Indians (MI) by eight runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, March 15. This was DC’s third straight WPL final loss, after defeats to MI in 2023 and RCB in 2024.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, DC managed to restrict MI to 149-7. However, under the pressure of the chase, Meg Lanning’s side faltered and could only reach 141-9, handing Mumbai their second WPL title. While MI celebrated their triumph, an emotional Kapp struggled to hold back her tears.

The 35-year-old South African cricketer put in a commendable all-round performance, but her efforts weren’t enough to secure victory. She bowled brilliantly, taking 2-11 in four overs, dismissing Hayley Matthews (3) and Yastika Bhatia (8). With the bat, she played a fighting knock of 40 off 26 balls.

Her heartbreak extended to the international stage as well, featuring in South Africa’s playing XI for the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup final defeat against Australia in Cape Town and the 2024 final loss to New Zealand in Dubai.
