Mohammed Shami stresses the importance of home advantage in cricket, especially regarding familiarity with conditions and ball behavior. Having formerly played for KKR, Shami is now imparting his knowledge to SRH, telling them how to make the most of the home conditions.
Match number 15 of the IPL 2025 will see last season’s finalists take the field. Defending champions KKR lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on the evening of Thursday, April 3, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. After a rather poor outing in the last match, KKR are right now at the rock bottom of the points table.
In contrast, SRH has been at the receiving end in their last two consecutive outings. This game is very important for both of them, as one shall end the losing streak and get two critical points in the contest.
Mohammed Shami Reveals Secret to Home Advantage in Cricket

Mohammed Shami stresses the value of home advantage in cricket, pointing to knowledge of the field and ball action as important variables. After playing for KKR in the past, Shami is now lending his knowledge to SRH and offering insightful advice on how to take advantage of home circumstances.
“Home always has an advantage; you mostly know the conditions, how the ball moves on the ground—all these things definitely come to your mind. As for home and away, currently I am not with the KKR team, so for now SRH people will get this input from me: how it behaves and how the ball travels. Nowadays, everyone knows that all the teams are playing at each other’s places; mostly everyone knows just recently how they are behaving; this is a little different factor” Mohammed Shami on Star Sports.
Having lost two consecutive games in the league, Cummins and company would look at their squad and think whether something should be changed for the next match against the defending champions. Their batting line-up has not been on song, and the team would probably be taking the same eleven and hoping the form’s dry spell is forgotten quickly.
