Team India’s wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul was rewarded for his outstanding behind the wickets against England in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match on Sunday, October 29 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. He won the ‘Best Fielder’ medal award for the second time in the tournament.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India shared behind-the-scenes from Team India’s dressing room medal ceremony. The fielding coach T Dilip announced the winner of the medal in a unique style. Earlier in Dharamsala, the spider cam carried the picture of the best-fielder. However, in Lucknow, the winner was announced, as LED lights glowed in the stands of the stadium, presenting a visual spectacle.

KL Rahul took Moeen Ali’s catch and also stumped Chris Woakes during the match. His effort behind the stumps was lauded by fielding coach T Dilip, who said,

“This medal is merely not about statistics. It’s not about just one good catch or saving some runs. It’s who brings on the spirit on the field. And what that one act you make how much the impact is making on the match. All that is counted and those are the winners.”

“Here comes our unsung hero contribution. Sometimes things go under the radar but never go unnoticed. KL Rahul,” said T Dilip.

India continues unbeaten streak in ICC ODI World Cup 2023

Team India continued their unbeaten streak in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated England by 100 runs in Lucknow. Batting first, India managed 229 runs on the board. Skipper Rohit Sharma slammed 87 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav smashed 49. The lower order also contributed well, with Jasprit Bumrah scoring 16 runs. In response, England got all out for 129 runs. Mohammed Shami picked up a four-wicket haul, while Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets.

This is India’s sixth consecutive win in the tournament. They rank at the top with twelve points from six matches and an NRR of 1.405. The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on Sri Lanka next on November 2 in Mumbai.
