[WATCH] “I’m Coming On 28th” – Rinku Singh Tells Rishabh Pant After KKR’s IPL 2024 Win

Rinku Singh excitedly told Rishabh Pant, “Bhaiyya, I’m coming on 28th” during a video call after the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the IPL 2024 final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 26. The conversation was shared on KKR’s official social media, showing Pant congratulating Rinku Singh and Nitish Rana for their victory.

Rishabh Pant, who led the Delhi Capitals (DC) this season, managed to finish sixth in the points table due to their inconsistent performances. He recently travelled to the USA with some other Indian cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Jasprit Bumrah to start preparing for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will be held from June 2 to 29 in the USA and West Indies.

During the video call, Rinku Singh informed Pant that he would join the Indian squad in the USA on May 28. Although Rinku is not part of the main squad, he is traveling as a reserve player. “Bhaiyya, I’m coming on 28th,” Rinku Singh said.

Gambhir Favours Pant for Middle-Order Role in T20 World Cup

Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir recently shared his thoughts on the debate about selecting a wicket-keeper for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Gambhir leaned towards choosing Rishabh Pant over Sanju Samson, suggesting that Pant would be more suitable for batting at positions 5, 6, or 7, while Samson prefers batting at the top of the order.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Cricket’s Match Ki Baat show, Gambhir emphasized that the team management should support whoever is chosen to play.

“Both have equal quality. Sanju has amazing quality, and even Rishabh has amazing quality. If I had to pick, I’d probably pick Rishabh Pant because he is a natural middle-order batter. Sanju, if you see in IPL, he has batted at number three. Rishabh has batted at number five, six and seven I think. Looking at Team India’s combination, we need the wicketkeeper in that position and not in the top order.”

He continued, “So I’d start with Rishabh Pant. Plus, he is a left-hander in the middle-order, which gives you a left hand-right hand combination. But again, if they see that Sanju can score more runs at number six or seven, they could go with him as well. I think only one out of those two will play, and whoever plays, the team management should back him.”
