The Indian football icon Sunil Chhetri visited the National Cricket Academy (NCA), on Sunday, May 8. Currently, numerous up-and-coming cricketers from the North-East region and Plate teams are training at the NCA and Chhetri shared some understandings from his journey with them.

The Indian Football team skipper paid a surprise visit to the NCA and seemed to be having a great time, over there. During his visit, Chhetri decided settled on to try out some fielding drills, actually designed for the cricketers. The official social media handles of the Indian Cricket team posted the video of 37-year old and Chhetri appeared to have aced the skill.

In the video, Chhetri is seen to be trying out a fielding drill like a professional cricketer and did a great job. Later on, cricketers right there appreciated the Indian striker’s efforts. The BCCI captioned the video saying, “NCA’s Neighbour, Indian Football Captain, and Legend, @chetrisunil11 dropping by on Sunday evening. He had a delightful fielding competition and shared some learnings from his own incredible journey in Football with the boys from North East and Plate Teams.”

Even before this, Chhetri has been seen to be enjoying a bit of Cricket with Virat Kohli.

Chhetri has played 125 matches for India in his career span of 17 years. The Indian skipper has the most international goals (74 goals) and is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo. The Bengaluru FC striker has the most (3) hat-tricks for India, on three different occasions.

Chhetri is the only player to win six All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Player of the Year awards. Moreover, for his contribution to Indian football, Chhetri was awarded the Padma Shri and Arjuna Awards.

Players start training for Ranji Quarter Finals At the NCA

Currently, at the NCA, abundant professional cricketers in the domestic circuit are working out for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2021/22 quarter-finals, in June. Mumbai, Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh are the eight-quarter finalists. The final will be played on June 22 between the winners of two semi-finals, at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Besides, the BCCI recently organized the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy and men’s Cooch Bihar Trophy. Sneh Rana’s Railways won the women’s tournament; while Haryana lifted the Cooch Bihar Trophy.
