Mumbai Indians’ training session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi was interrupted by a sudden dust storm on Friday, April 11. A video shared by the five-time IPL champions showed players quickly running off the field as strong winds swept through the stadium in the early evening.

Adding some humor to the situation, former captain Rohit Sharma shouted “comeback” as the chaos unfolded like a scene from an action movie. He even instructed the cameraman to capture the dramatic moment as the dust storm swirled through the stands, with Rohit positioned near the boundary line when the gusts hit.

Deepak Chahar was one of the players caught in the dust storm, alongside coaches Mahela Jayawardene and Lasith Malinga. Thankfully, all players and staff quickly reached safety and were not in the storm for long. Mumbai Indians were gearing up for their important IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals, set for Sunday, April 13.

A thick layer of clouds covered the city later in the evening, with rain predicted for Friday night. The dust storm brought the Delhi-NCR region to a near halt. The severe weather disrupted operations at Delhi Airport, resulting in 15 flight diversions by Friday evening.

The storm also caused fatalities and injuries, with one person killed and two others injured when the wall of an under-construction building collapsed in East Delhi. Strong winds brought down tree branches in several parts of the city. In one incident, a motorcycle was crushed by a fallen tree trunk, and traffic was severely impacted in multiple areas due to debris on the roads.
