India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was awarded the dressing room’s Impact Player of the Match medal following the T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against Namibia in Delhi. Invited to deliver a speech, Kishan kept it brief, simply saying, “Well done, guys!”
His short remark prompted captain Suryakumar Yadav to jokingly comment that the speech nearly brought him to tears. Prior to naming Kishan as the Impact Player for the Namibia game, head coach Gautam Gambhir had also commended the team’s positive batting intent.

Kishan played a key role with the bat, producing a briliant 61 off just 24 balls as India posted 209/9 in their 20 overs. The left-hander earned his recall to the national side at the beginning of the season after a two-year gap, following outstanding performances in domestic cricket.
After impressing with his batting display against New Zealand, Kishan was promoted to open alongside Abhishek Sharma for the ongoing T20 World Cup. Since his comeback, the southpaw has averaged over 49 at a remarkable strike rate of 222.55, registering one century and two half-centuries in six T20Is.
“I’m Not The Same Person Anymore” – Ishan Kishan
Ishan Kishan admitted that since rejoining the Indian team, he has adopted a more serious and disciplined approach towards his cricket instead of merely enjoying the moment. The 27-year-old faced multiple challenges following his previous appearance for India in December 2023 before making his comeback this season.
“I think I am a changed man now, to be honest. I don’t get into it too much, but I do enjoy jokes and everything. I do it, but earlier I used to do it 24×7, but now it is just two-three hours of it. So I am just focusing more on batting and my wicket-keeping, which is going to help the team and which is going to help me. Everything is secondary,” said Kishan after the Nambia clash (via NDTV).
