Kishan’s 70 off 47 balls guided Hyderabad to a comfortable five-wicket win at Chepauk on Monday, making the chase relatively smooth. Beyond his batting heroics, he also grabbed attention with a ‘whistle’ gesture aimed at the CSK crowd.

After that, he followed it up with a “home” sign, indicating SRH’s success in conquering CSK’s fortress. He then waved to the crowd and ended with a loud “Come on, SRH!”

Kishan, who said he understood while keeping that the pitch wasn’t easy to bat on, admitted that the plan was to take the game deep.

“I think, when I was wicket keeping, I just felt like this wicket is not easy. I still felt chasing this total is going to be a bit too much because, the wicket was not at all easy, especially when spinners were bowling and those slow balls working out very well, but at the same time, as a number three batter, I just felt, my job is to just try and finish the game because, batters coming in, especially at the back end, it’s difficult for them to take singles and at the same time score boundaries. So I had to just play it till the last over,” Kishan said at the post-match presentation. 

The defeat has left Chennai’s qualification chances hanging by a thread. With 12 points from 13 matches, CSK are still technically in contention for the playoffs, but only in a very slim mathematical sense.
