[WATCH] Ishan Kishan Smashes Shaheen Afridi For Six Off First Ball In IND vs PAK T20 WC 2026

Ishan Kishan got off to a flying start by hitting Shaheen Afridi for a six on the very first ball he faced in the high-pressure T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, February 15.

The left-hander played the big shot right after Abhishek Sharma was dismissed on the final ball of the previous over. Afridi started the second over of India’s innings with a short ball. Kishan quickly adjusted, moved into position, and pulled it powerfully over square leg into the stands.

Ishan Kishan is coming into this match after a great performance against Namibia. The 27-year-old scored 61 runs from just 24 balls, hitting five sixes and six fours. Before that, he scored his first T20I hundred in a five-match series against New Zealand last month. He will now hope to keep up this good form in the ongoing ICC tournament.

Ishan Kishan Responds Strongly After Abhishek’s Early Exit in T20 WC 2026 Clash

Ishan Kishan provided another strong start for India, even though Abhishek Sharma was out for zero after facing just four balls in the T20 World Cup 2026 match. At the time of writing, India were 52 for 1 after six overs, with Kishan on 42 off 25 balls and Tilak Varma on 10 off 7. Pakistan captain Salman Agha picked up the first wicket in the opening over.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, India had already won their first two matches of the tournament against the USA and Namibia. Pakistan have also started well, beating the Netherlands and the USA in their group games.

India recently defeated Pakistan three times in the Asia Cup 2025, including in the final, and will aim to keep that winning run going. Meanwhile, Pakistan have not beaten India since the 2022 Asia Cup and will be eager to take a win to build confidence before the Super 8 stage.
