Veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets in three deliveries to put South Africa on the back foot on Day 2 (Saturday, November 15) of the first Test in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. In the third ball of the 17th over of South Africa’s second innings, Jadeja bowled a length delivery outside off.
Wiaan Mulder pushed forward, but extra bounce caused the ball to brush his glove, giving Rishabh Pant a sharp catch behind the stumps. Mulder departed for 11 off 30 balls, hitting just one boundary. Two balls later, bowling around the wicket, Jadeja sent in a length delivery aimed at middle and leg.
Tony de Zorzi attempted a flick to the on side, but the ball grazed his glove, deflected off his thigh pad, and popped up to short leg, where Dhruv Jurel completed an easy catch. You can watch the video here:

In reply, India’s innings began with Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring 12, while KL Rahul (39) and Washington Sundar (29) added valuable runs.
Shubman Gill’s stay was cut short at four from three balls as he was forced to retire hurt due to a neck spasm. In the middle order, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with 27 apiece before India were bowled out for 189 in 62.2 overs, gaining a 30-run lead after the first innings.
Among the South African bowlers, Simon Harmer picked up four wickets, and Marco Jansen finished with three.
