[WATCH]- Jaiswal Smashes Upper Cut For Six To Bring Up Blistering Fifty On Day 2

India’s opening batter Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his half-century in style on Day 2 of the fifth Test at The Oval, smashing a six with a superb upper cut off England’s Jamie Overton. The left-hander reached his fifty in just 47 deliveries. The bold shot came in the 17th over of India’s second innings.

Overton delivered a short-pitched ball, and Jaiswal instinctively went for the upper cut, sending it flying over the wicketkeeper’s head for a six. He timed it perfectly, with the pace of the ball helping it sail over the ropes. You can watch the video here:

This was Yashasvi Jaiswal’s first half-century in the second innings during this series. Overall, he has scored more than 300 runs across the five Tests, including one century and three fifties.

India Lead By 52 As Jaiswal Scores Crucial Half-Century

Yashasvi Jaiswal provided India with a solid start in their second innings, helping them take a 52-run lead with eight wickets in hand at stumps on Day 2. He remained unbeaten on 51 off just 49 deliveries, hitting two sixes and seven boundaries. India ended the day at 75/2 in 18 overs, having lost KL Rahul and Sai Sudharsan for 7 and 11, respectively.

Josh Tongue and Gus Atkinson claimed the early breakthroughs. Earlier, India’s bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, starred with four-wicket hauls each as England were bowled out for 247 in their first innings. Openers Zak Crawley (64 off 57) and Ben Duckett (43 off 38) gave England a flying start with a 92-run stand.

However, regular wickets saw the hosts collapse, despite Harry Brook’s vital 53, giving England a 23-run lead. India had earlier posted 224 in their first innings, with Karun Nair top-scoring with 57 off 109 balls. Atkinson picked up five wickets while Tongue added three. Trailing 1-2 in the series, India need a win in this final Test to avoid defeat.
