It was one of the most entertaining contests at the VRA Ground, Amstelveen, as England, the visitors, smashed a record-breaking One Day International (ODI) total of 498.
Jos Buttler, the ‘Boss Buttler’ again, was at his best. He played an unbeaten knock of 162 runs in just 70 deliveries. The 31-year-old was certainly carrying his form from this year’s Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament. The English wicketkeeper batter smashed 7 fours and 14 sixes.
Buttler, along with Phil Salt, the opener, and Dawid Malan, the middle-order batter, aided his side to achieve the feat. Salt and Malan both scored centuries and Liam Livingstone, in the end, finished it off in style. The rising English batting all-rounder scored 66 runs in merely 22 deliveries, with 6 fours, and as many sixes.
An interesting incident took place in the same match. We often see brothers and sisters who play any sport, somehow, under certain circumstances, end up representing different countries. This time it was Jason Roy, the England opener, and his cousin from Netherlands Shane Snater. Both the cousins stood against each other, in the first game of the three-match ODI series.
Snater, the right-arm pacer, bowled a full-length delivery in the second over of the match. Trying to play on the front foot, Roy edged the ball and it ended up rumbling his stumps. Roy departed after scoring a run in 7 deliveries. He was seen having a frustrated smile after the dismissal.
The official social media handle of England Cricket posted the video of the dismissal, with a caption, “Early wicket for the hosts as Jason Roy is dismissed by his cousin.”

Jason Roy was born in South Africa, while Snater in Zimbabwe. Roy and Snater are cousins and so are their mothers. Snater was, of course, pleased after the wicket of his cousin.
England Defeat Netherlands By A Massive Margin Of 232 Runs
Meanwhile, England bowlers wrapped up the Dutch innings for 266 runs. Wicketkeeper batter Scott Edwards was the highest run-getter for the Netherlands; he played an unbeaten knock of 72 runs, in 52 deliveries, with five fours and a six.
Opener Max O’Dowd too, hit a half-century for his side. For England, Moeen Ali took three wickets and aided his side to achieve a remarkable victory by 232 runs.
Both the sides will now play in the second derby of the series, on June 19 (Sunday), at the same venue.
