India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah provided the visitors with a dream start by dismissing England opener Ben Duckett off the very first delivery of the second ODI at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, on Thursday, July 16. Bowling from over the wicket, Bumrah delivered a good-length ball that shaped away from the left-hander.

Duckett poked at it away from his body and edged the ball to wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who completed a straightforward catch behind the stumps. Watch the video of the dismissal below:

The left-handed opener was dismissed for a golden duck, reducing England to 0/1 off the very first ball of their chase. Pursuing a target of 234, the hosts reached 5/1 after two overs, with Jacob Bethell unbeaten on 4 off 4 balls and Joe Root on 1 off 7 at the time of writing.

Jasprit Bumrah Delivers Crucial Cameo To Boost India’s Total

After being asked to bat first, India got off to a steady start as openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill stitched together a 44-run partnership from 46 deliveries. Gill was the first to depart after scoring 31 off 30 balls, while Rohit struggled for fluency, making 26 off 47. Ishan Kishan also failed to convert his start, managing just one run off eight deliveries.

Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer then revived the innings with a 67-run stand for the fourth wicket. Kohli struck 65 off 66 balls before being dismissed, after which India suffered a mini-collapse, losing Washington Sundar (2), Axar Patel (1), and Shivam Dube (golden duck) in quick succession.

Iyer top-scored with 66 off 71 balls, while Jasprit Bumrahprovided a late flourish with an unbeaten 20 off 13 deliveries, featuring three fours and a six. India were eventually bowled out for 233 in 44 overs, with Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson claiming three wickets each.
