Mumbai Indians shocked everyone in the IPL 2022 mega-auctions by buying Jofra Archer for 8 crores. Archer is still recovering from his elbow injury and hence will most likely miss the 2022 season. A second surgery on his right elbow was performed a few months ago.
MI owner Nita Ambani said that the franchise decided to sign Jofra Archer by keeping a long-term vision in mind. “Mumbai Indians always have a short-term goal and a long-term vision.”, she said.
With Jofra Archer expected to return to full fitness in the coming months, he will be a great asset to the side, sharing the new ball and death overs with Jasprit Bumrah. It can be considered a masterstroke since Archer and Bumrah operating together means a nightmare for the opposition batters.
Archer has a fantastic record in the IPL. He has played 35 matches since his IPL debut in 2018, taking 46 wickets at an average of 21.32 and an economy rate of 7.13.
Mumbai Indians had recently shared a video on their social media platforms where Archer was seen doing batting practice.

Jofra Archer impressed by Jasprit Bumrah’s spell at Chinnaswamy stadium
Mumbai Indians recently interacted with Jofra Archer through their show called MI TV. In the middle of the conversation, Archer was seen appreciating Jasprit Bumrah for his incredible spell against Sri Lanka in the ongoing Pink-ball test in Bangalore. Looking at his TV screen, Archer said:
“Oh wow! Are you guys watching the cricket as well right now. Actually, Boom has got 2/10. The pink ball is swinging all over and yeah it’s doing everything.”
Jasprit Bumrah, infact went to pick a fifer in that innings. This was his eighth five-wicket haul in just his 29th Test match.
