Kane Williamson was spotted taking a nap outside the dressing room during the 2025 Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday, March 9. The 34-year-old was seen dozing off while sitting next to Glenn Phillips, with cameras capturing the moment.
The incident occurred in the seventh over of New Zealand’s innings. However, Williamson didn’t have to wait long to bat, as the Kiwis lost their first wicket in the very next over. Varun Chakaravarthy provided the breakthrough by trapping Will Young lbw, ending his 57-run partnership with Rachin Ravindra.

Kane Williamson entered the 2025 Champions Trophy final in form, having scored 102 off 94 in the semifinal against South Africa, which New Zealand won by 50 runs. He also played a crucial 81 off 120 against India in the group stage but couldn’t replicate his success in the final, managing only 11 off 14 before getting dismissed cheaply.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav led India’s strong start in the 2025 Champions Trophy final with key wickets. At the time of writing, New Zealand were 75/3 after 12.2 overs, with Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell at the crease.
India missed two catching opportunities in the match. Mohammad Shami couldn’t hold onto a return catch from Rachin Ravindra early in the innings, followed by Shreyas Iyer dropping another chance. However, the left-hander was unable to capitalize on these let-offs.
The Men in Blue remain unbeaten in the tournament, having defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Australia (semifinal). Skipper Rohit Sharma aims to secure India’s second consecutive ICC trophy following their 2024 T20 World Cup victory.
