KKR captain Shreyas Iyer, known for his good toss record in IPL 2024, kissed the coin before tossing it against Rajasthan Royals. Despite his efforts, RR’s luck prevailed as they won the toss and chose to bowl.
Starting the season with a loss to Pat Cummins in the opener against SunRisers Hyderabad, Iyer had only lost one toss since, to Ruturaj Gaikwad of Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk.
The KKR captain is enjoying a successful tournament, with the two-time champions having lost just one match thus far. He is eager to secure the top spot following the showdown against the league leaders, Rajasthan Royals (RR).

When questioned about his coin-kissing ritual, Shreyas Iyer remarked to host Sanjay Manjrekar:
“It wasn’t the case, it was all about flying kiss. I would’ve loved to bowl because it has a lot to offer for the bowlers and we witnessed the same day before yesterday.”
KKR has chosen to stick with the same playing XI that convincingly beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) recently. Even in that match, Iyer performed his unique coin ritual before the toss, which proved successful.
Iyer’s routine even elicited a laugh from KL Rahul. It’s worth mentioning that the match against RR is the second of KKR’s five consecutive home games.
In his IPL captaincy tenure, Shreyas Iyer has won the toss 58.33% of the time
Since the 2018-19 season, Iyer has consistently led franchises in the IPL, making him the most seasoned captain in the league currently, as MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are no longer leading their respective teams.
Across 60 matches as captain, Shreyas Iyer has won the toss 35 times, resulting in a win percentage of 58.33.
