Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) co-owner Shah Rukh Khan made a bold prediction for his team back in 2010. While hosting the Sahara IPL awards, he was joined on stage by KKR’s star player Sourav Ganguly and RCB’s key batter Rahul Dravid for a brief segment.
At the awards show, Shah Rukh Khan attempted to get then-RCB owner Vijay Mallya to sing Kolkata Knight Riders’ anthem, ‘Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo.’ He also made the same effort with Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid on stage.
In a lighthearted moment, Dravid jokingly suggested removing the ‘Jeetbo’ (win) part from KKR’s anthem, as the team had failed to reach the semifinals in the first two IPL seasons. In response to Dravid’s remark, Khan delivered a sharp comeback. He said:
“Me sabko bata raha hu 7 saal bad dekhna Kolkata Knight Riders ko.” (I’m telling you all look at Kolkata Knight Riders after seven years.)

Although KKR missed out on a Top 4 finish in 2010, the team’s fortunes turned around from 2011 when they secured their first playoff spot. In 2012, they clinched their maiden IPL title, and in 2014, they added another trophy to their collection.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Kolkata Knight Riders will participate in IPL 2025 as the titleholders
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their third IPL title in 2024 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final. They will enter IPL 2025 as the reigning champions and are set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the season opener, mirroring the first-ever IPL match.
Eden Gardens, KKR’s home ground, will host the IPL 2025 final. It remains to be seen whether the Knight Riders can retain their title. However, their championship-winning captain, Shreyas Iyer, has joined Punjab Kings, and KKR has yet to announce his replacement as captain.
