Virat Kohli Spotted at Mumbai Airport After RCB’s Defeat to GT

Virat Kohli attracted huge attention upon landing in Vadodara on Wednesday, January 7, ahead of India’s upcoming series against New Zealand. Earlier in the day, the Delhi-born batter arrived in Mumbai after celebrating the New Year 2026 in Dubai with his family and close friends.

Soon after, Kohli was again seen at the airport while departing for Vadodara. Upon his arrival, the 37-year-old was greeted by a sea of fans chanting his name, with the former India captain’s exit from the airport triggering chaotic scenes. You can watch the video here:

Meanwhile, the three-match ODI series against New Zealand will get underway on Sunday, January 11, at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara. The right-handed batter enters the series in fine form, having struck 131 and 77 in his two outings for Delhi during the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26.

Before that as well, he was in outstanding touch, piling up 302 runs in three innings, which included two centuries and a half-century, and earned him the Player of the Series award against South Africa.

Virat Kohli boasts six centuries against New Zealand in ODIs

Virat Kohli boasts an outstanding record against his upcoming opponents, New Zealand. In 33 ODIs, India’s No. 3 has accumulated 1,657 runs at an average of 55.23 and a strike rate of 95.50, featuring nine half-centuries and six hundreds against the Kiwis.

Alongside Kohli’s strong recent form, India will receive a further boost with the return of skipper Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, both of whom were sidelined during the Men in Blue’s previous ODI series against South Africa due to injury.
