Kuldeep Yadav brought Tristan Stubbs’ useful innings to an end by having him caught behind on Day 1 of the second Test between India and South Africa on Saturday, November 22. The left-arm wrist-spinner drew a thick outside edge that flew to KL Rahul at first slip, dismissing Stubbs for 49 off 112 balls, an innings that included two sixes and two fours. The wicket left South Africa at 187/4.
The breakthrough came in the 64th over of South Africa’s first innings. Kuldeep started the over with a tossed-up delivery outside off that held its line after pitching. Stubbs tried to defend, but couldn’t control the shot, resulting in the edge. Meanwhile, Rahul redeemed himself after dropping Aiden Markram earlier in the day. You can watch the video here:

It was Kuldeep Yadav’s second wicket of the innings, after he had earlier removed opener Ryan Rickelton for 35 shortly after the tea interval.
Kuldeep Yadav Strikes Twice After Jadeja Breaks Key Partnership
Kuldeep Yadav claimed his second wicket shortly after Ravindra Jadeja ended the 84-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma, dismissing the South African captain for 41 off 92 deliveries. Earlier, Jasprit Bumrah had provided India with their first breakthrough by bowling Aiden Markram for 38.
At the time of writing, South Africa were 196/4, with Tony de Zorzi and Wiaan Mulder at the crease. India, having lost the first Test by 30 runs in Kolkata, where Simon Harmer starred with eight wickets, will be eager to respond strongly in the second match.
They will also aim to avoid losing their second consecutive home Test series under Gautam Gambhir’s tenure, following last year’s 0-3 defeat to New Zealand. The Men in Blue are missing regular captain Shubman Gill due to neck stiffness, with Rishabh Pant leading the side in the second Test.
Meanwhile, South Africa will be eyeing their first Test series victory in India since the 1999/2000 tour. They recently drew a two-Test series 1-1 in Pakistan and will look to build on that performance.
