[WATCH]- Lungi Ngidi’s Stunning Catch Dismisses Overton In ENG vs SA Match

Lungi Ngidi pulled off a spectacular catch to dismiss Jamie Overton during the 2025 Champions Trophy Group B match between South Africa and England in Karachi on Saturday, March 1. Overton managed just 11 runs off 20 balls before his dismissal, leaving England struggling at 129/7.

The wicket fell in the 26th over when Kagiso Rabada delivered a length ball outside off. Overton attempted a leg-side shot but failed to make proper contact, sending the ball high towards mid-on. Ngidi sprinted backward and took a stunning catch, leaving the crowd in awe.

Stretching out his left hand, Lungi Ngidi secured the ball mid-air before falling to the ground, ensuring a clean catch without losing control. You can watch the video here:

As of now, England are 145/7 after 28 overs, with captain Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer at the crease. Marco Jansen has been the standout bowler, claiming three wickets and taking a stunning catch to dismiss Harry Brook. Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj has also contributed with two wickets.

South Africa eye semifinal spot as England crash out of 2025 Champions Trophy

South Africa are vying for a crucial semifinal spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy, while defending champions England have already been eliminated from contention. The Proteas are level on points with Afghanistan but hold a significantly superior net run rate.

They secured a 107-run victory over Afghanistan, while their match against Australia was washed out due to rain. A win against England would take them to five points, strengthening their chances of advancing. Meanwhile, England’s hopes ended after back-to-back defeats to Australia and Afghanistan.

Jos Buttler has announced his retirement as captain and is leading England for the final time. Notably, Australia have already secured a semifinal berth from Group B, while India and New Zealand have advanced from Group A.
