[WATCH]- Matt Renshaw Achieves A Half-Century, Accumulating Seven Runs In The Warm-Up Match Against Pakistan!

Matt Renshaw of Prime Minister’s XI achieved his half-century in a distinctive fashion on Day 3 of the warm-up match against Pakistan at Manuka Oval in Canberra on Friday, December 8. He increased his score from 47 to 54, adding seven runs.

In the 78th over of Prime Minister’s XI’s initial innings, Matt Renshaw played a shot off leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed through the off-side. Mir Hamza, the fielder, pursued the ball and made a sliding effort to prevent a boundary, limiting the batsmen to three runs.

However, Hamza’s throw was off target, eluding Pakistan’s keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed. The ball went past the keeper and reached the boundary, resulting in Renshaw gaining seven runs for his shot.

The Prime Minister’s XI reached a score of 235/3 after 88 overs in their initial innings, in reply to Pakistan’s declared total of 391/9.

The opening batsmen of Prime Minister’s XI contributed 96 runs for the first wicket, with Marcus Harris dismissed by Abrar for 49 off 102 balls. Subsequently, Cameron Bancroft (53 off 128) was lbw to Khurram Shahzad.

Renshaw and Cameron Green (46 off 96) formed an 86-run partnership for the third wicket until the latter was caught behind off Faheem Ashraf. As of the current status, Renshaw was at a score of 67, and Prime Minister’s XI skipper Nathan McSweeney was on 7.

Earlier, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 391/9 declared in their initial innings after winning the toss and opting to bat. Captain Shan Masood led with an unbeaten 201 off 298 balls.

Sarfaraz Ahmed contributed a brisk 41 off 47, and Babar Azam (40 off 88) and Abdullah Shafique (38 off 76) made decent contributions.

In the bowling department for the Prime Minister’s XI, Jordan Buckingham shone with figures of 5/80 from 23 overs, while Mark Steketee, Nathan McAndrew, and Todd Murphy each claimed one wicket.

Regarding Renshaw, he has experienced fluctuations in his presence in the Australian team over the past few years. Making his debut in November 2016, the 27-year-old left-handed batsman has accumulated 645 runs in 14 Tests at an average of 29.31. His performances include one century and three half-centuries.

He is a seasoned batsman in first-class cricket, amassing 6609 runs in 106 matches at an average of 37.98. The left-hander has recorded 20 centuries and 19 half-centuries in his first-class cricket career.
