[WATCH] “McCullum Saamne Baitha Hai” – Axar Patel Leaves Everyone In Splits At The BCCI Naman Awards

Renowned for his humour, Indian left-arm spinner Axar Patel delivered another amusing moment at the BCCI Naman Awards on Tuesday when questioned about his strategies for the upcoming Test series against England.

In a comical twist, Axar playfully labelled it a top secret and declined to share details, citing the presence of Brendon McCullum, England’s Test coach, in the audience. Here are his words:

“It is top secret. I am not revealing right now before the series is coming in few days. Aapne hi bola McCullum saamne baitha hai (you only said McCullum is paying attention) (laughs).”

Axar Patel entertains the crowd at the BCCI Naman Awards, leaving them in laughter.

Axar Patel earned the Best International Debut (Men) award for the 2020-21 season, showcasing an impressive performance by dismantling the England batting lineup during the Test series. Across three matches, Axar secured an exceptional 27 wickets at a mere average of 10.59, establishing himself as a formidable threat for the visiting team once again.

India could deploy spin-friendly pitches against England once more

England’s recent 3-1 Test series loss in India was mainly attributed to their batsmen struggling on turning tracks. Despite debates on the nature of the pitches, Indian players assert their right to prepare home conditions.

Since that series, India has shown confidence in winning on early-spinning tracks. England’s anticipation of playing on a turner is evident as they’ve included three spinners and just one pacer in their playing XI for the first Test in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The home team should be careful because they’ve lost on turning pitches in the past. They also need to be ready for England’s aggressive Bazball strategy and avoid falling behind in the match.
