Australian skipper Mitchell Marsh sparked laughter after his amusing reaction to drinking pickle juice during the drinks break in the first ODI against India at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday. The West Australian clearly didn’t enjoy the taste and pulled a series of funny faces, which left the commentators in splits.

The incident unfolded when Mitchell Marsh appeared to be dealing with cramps, prompting the support staff to bring out refreshments. As he took off his helmet and took a sip of the pickle juice, his displeasure was instantly visible, and he appeared to turn to a teammate and ask:

“What’s in that?”

During the post-match presentation, the 33-year-old addressed his expressions and remarked:

“I thought that was the sugar carpings. So, that was awful. But it fixed my cramps. So, whatever company from it was, it was great.”

Mitchell Marsh Leads Australia As India Bundled Out For 136 In Rain-Affected Match

Earlier in the day, the toss went Marsh’s way, and he chose to bowl first considering the weather conditions. However, things didn’t go as India would have hoped, as Rohit Sharma (8) and Virat Kohli (0) departed early on their return to international cricket. Shubman Gill also couldn’t make an impact, falling for 10 to Nathan Ellis, leaving India struggling at 25/3.

Frequent rain delays disrupted the batting flow, preventing India from building any momentum. With the match reduced to 26 overs, KL Rahul (38) and Axar Patel (31) attempted to revive the innings with some aggressive strokes. Nitish Kumar Reddy added a late flourish with two sixes in the final over, helping India reach 136/9.

Josh Hazlewood, Mitch Owen, and Matthew Kuhnemann each picked up two wickets. In the run chase, Marsh remained unbeaten on 46, while Josh Philippe (37) and Matt Renshaw (21*) supported the effort effectively. The second ODI is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 23, in Adelaide.
