[WATCH]- Mohammad Rizwan Gives A Witty Reply To Reporter’s Question On Pakistan’s Opener For PAK vs NZ ODI

Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan gave a witty response to a reporter’s question during a press conference regarding the opening pair for the tri-series opener against New Zealand on Saturday (February 8) at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

When asked to reveal who would open the innings, Rizwan humorously replied with the phrase “King kar lega,” strongly hinting at Babar Azam. With specialist opener Saim Ayub still recovering from an ankle injury, the selectors are expected to opt for Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman at the top of the order.

Although Babar boasts an impressive ODI average of 60.14 at No. 3, he has opened only twice in the format, with a highest score of 22. This tactical change could pose a risk for Pakistan as they prepare to defend their Champions Trophy title later this year.

Here’s how Rizwan responded when pressed further on the matter:

“Iske jawaab mein woh baat ki thi na, ‘King kar lega’.” (The answer is, there was a line ‘King will do it’.)

“His absence is felt” – Mohammad Rizwan on Saim Ayub

Talking about Ayub, the 32-year-old stated that the young batter is a complete package, given his all-round skills, which has slightly disrupted their planning. However, the captain emphasized that Pakistan will not use his absence as an excuse. Rizwan, as quoted by Geo Sports, said:

“Look, we all know how well Saim Ayub performed recently. It was exceptional, considering the conditions and oppositions he flared against. Anyway, his void is in the team because he is such a package for Pakistan who can be fit anywhere be it his bowling, fielding or batting.”

“You can also that our planning got disturbed but we should not be focusing on the names but on the process. So, his void is there but the process remained the same for us and it will not be an excuse for us.”
