Team India have had a tough outing so far in the first two days of the first Test at the Basin Reserve in Wellington. The visitors were bowled out for 165 runs with Tim Southee and debutant Kyle Jamieson sharing eight wickets between each other. Despite poor outing on the field, Indian cricketers looked confident with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah having fun on the ground.
The Kiwi bowlers were on the money as they picked wickets at regular intervals to keep India at bay. India managed to add only 10 runs to their overnight score before an error in judgement cost Rishabh Pant’s wicket. It was needless from the visitors as they toil for 132 for six and were in deep trouble. After Pant’s departure, India needed Ashwin, playing ahead of Ravindra Jadeja, to stay in the middle with Ajinkya Rahane. But he got an extremely good nut first up even before he could’ve got hold of the conditions and behaviour of the surface.

Tasting the blood, New Zealand made full use of the surface on offered as Tim Southee removed Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane. However, a brisk knock of 21 runs from 20 delivers from Mohammed Shami helped India cross the 150-run mark. After a resounding effort with the ball, the Kiwi batters started well before Ishant Sharma removed Tom Latham but skipper Kane Williamson partnered with Tom Blundell to steer the innings. Although Ishant cleaned up Blundell to have the host at 73 for two, New Zealand to secure a massive first-innings lead.
Meanwhile, despite a poor display of cricket, Indian cricketers looked confident on the field and the chips were not completely down. Mohammed Shami, who is one of the funny cricketers in the current set-up was seen fooling Jasprit Bumrah, while the latter was gearing up to bowl. The cricketer from Bengal first imitated Bumrah before fooling him with a fake delivery leaving Bumrah stunned on the field.
