Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni has begun training ahead of IPL 2025, displaying his trademark big-hitting ability. Despite not having played competitive cricket since May last year—following CSK’s final league-stage match of IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)—Dhoni showed no signs of rust in the nets.

CSK’s loss in that match, where Dhoni was dismissed in the final over of the chase, ended their playoff hopes. Throughout IPL 2024, he batted lower down the order and faced limited deliveries, yet he remained in sublime striking form, amassing 161 runs in 14 games at an incredible strike rate of 220.55.

The highly anticipated IPL match between CSK and MI is set to take place early in the upcoming season. Both teams will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign with this clash at Chepauk Stadium on March 23. This match will also mark Ravichandran Ashwin’s reunion with MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja at CSK after nine seasons.
