[WATCH] MS Dhoni Gives A Witty Response To Fan Wanting Him Back For IPL 2026

Former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni recently addressed the ongoing curiosity about his IPL future at an event. As the 44-year-old was sharing his thoughts on the matter, an enthusiastic fan from the audience eagerly urged him to participate in the upcoming season.

In response, Dhoni humorously mentioned his knee problems and joked about how they might react to another IPL campaign. The iconic wicketkeeper-batsman has been managing knee issues for the past three years and underwent surgery following the 2023 IPL season.

While talking about his career plans, Dhoni said:

“I don’t know whether I’ll play or not. I have time to decide. I have some time until December, so I’ll take another couple of months, and then finally, I can make my decision.”

While he was discussing the topic, a fan from the audience called out, “You have to play, sir.” Dhoni replied to this with a smile, saying:

“Who will take care of my knee pain?”

MS Dhoni And CSK Endure A Hard-Fought IPL 2025 Season

MS Dhoni had a disappointing IPL 2025 season with the bat, managing just 196 runs at an average of 24.50 and a strike rate of 135.17 across 14 matches. The 44-year-old often batted lower down the order at No. 8 in several games due to ongoing fitness concerns.

His poor form significantly contributed to CSK winning only four of their 14 matches and ending up at the bottom of the points table. This marked the first time in their illustrious history that the five-time IPL champions finished last.

Dhoni also took over captaincy for the final nine games after the regular skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, was sidelined with an elbow injury. Additionally, the Men in Yellow suffered their worst-ever home season, winning just one out of seven matches played at Chepauk Stadium.
