Even in retirement, former India captain MS Dhoni continues to be a source of inspiration for emerging cricketers. With a remarkable career as both a player and captain, Dhoni, who stepped away from international cricket in August 2020, remains humble on and off the field.

At the age of 42, he is arguably India’s greatest-ever captain, leading the team to victory in three major ICC tournaments. Under his leadership, India secured the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup, and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Throughout his captaincy tenure in international cricket, Dhoni led in 332 matches, the highest number by any captain. Of these, he won 178, lost 120, tied six, and 15 ended in a no-result. His impressive win percentage of 53.61, combined with his numerous trophies, solidifies his status as India’s most successful captain to date.

In these 332 matches, Dhoni scored 11,207 runs in 330 innings at an average of 46.89 and a strike rate of over 76. He also registered 11 centuries and 71 fifties as captain, with his highest score being 224. Clearly, the responsibilities of captaincy didn’t hinder Dhoni’s batting prowess.

His success extended beyond the international arena to franchise cricket, where he represented and captained the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dhoni secured five IPL titles with CSK in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, as well as two Champions League T20 titles with CSK in 2010 and 2014.
