[WATCH]- MS Dhoni’s Brilliant Direct Hit Ends Abdul Samad’s Knock In LSG vs CSK IPL 2025

MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, once again showcased his brilliance behind the stumps by running out Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) batter Abdul Samad with an under-arm direct hit at the non-striker’s end. The two teams are facing off today (April 14) at the BRSABV Stadium in Lucknow.

Dhoni had an excellent day with the gloves, diving to stop some deliveries from going for extras and executing a swift stumping to dismiss Ayush Badoni (22 off 17). On the first ball of the 20th over, Matheesha Pathirana bowled a wide down the pads.

MS Dhoni swiftly collected the ball and, with a precise underarm throw, broke the stumps at the bowler’s end. After a quick review, the third umpire confirmed that Samad was just short of his ground, ending his innings. You can watch the video here:

Abdul Samad‘s quickfire knock of 20 runs off 11 balls was cut short by the runout. The 23-year-old became the fifth wicket to fall for LSG, with David Miller coming in to bat in his place, looking to steady the innings.

CSK Make Quick Start Against LSG in Chase for Second Win of the Season

Chasing 167 for their second win of the season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) scored 37 runs in the first three overs. The five-time champions introduced a new opening pair, debutant Shaikh Rasheed and Rachin Ravindra.

Earlier, CSK won the toss and limited LSG to 166/7 in their 20 overs. Rishabh Pant (63 off 49) notched his first half-century for the Super Giants, with cameos from Abdul Samad (20 off 11) and Ayush Badoni (22 off 17) helping LSG set a modest target.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are scheduled to play their next match against the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
