On Wednesday, January 8, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) shared a touching post on social media to honor former captain Rohit Sharma, who recently celebrated an impressive 14 years with the team.
Rohit began his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers, where he scored 1,170 runs in 45 matches across the first three seasons. On January 8, 2011, the Mumbai Indians secured him for ₹9.2 crore during the IPL auction. Since joining, Rohit has played a pivotal role in the team’s success and transformation.
Rohit became the Mumbai Indians’ captain midway through the 2013 season and quickly led them to their first IPL title. That same year, he also guided the team to victory in the Champions League T20, achieving an unforgettable double.
The 37-year-old has consistently led the team to triumph, securing IPL titles in 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, solidifying Mumbai Indians as one of the most successful franchises, alongside Chennai Super Kings, with five titles.
