Watch: Niroshan Dickwella And Kusal Mendis Breach Bio-Bubble; Sent Back Home

In a video that has now gone viral, Sri Lankan cricketers Kusal Mendis and Niroshan Dickwella were seen breaching the bio-bubble. The two of them were in a public place in England following Lanka’s defeat in the T20I series.

Sri Lankan cricket is already in a turmoil following their embarrassing performances in recent times. The latest one, was a 0-3 defeat to England in the T20I series. However, worse things are taking place off the field. There have been reports of fans starting a campaign to unfollow their cricketers.

“The aim of the campaign is to unfollow failed Sri Lankan cricketers from their verified profiles. This includes Facebook, Instagram and Twitter,” a popular website said.

The breach results in suspension for the players

The Sri Lankan team is currently in Durham for the ODI series against England. Mendis and Dickwella are smoking while sitting beside the street. The substance used, however, is up to the viewer’s imagination at the moment.

According to ESPNCricinfo, Sri Lanka‘s team manager Manuja Kariyapperuma had confirmed that the investigations were underway to determine whether there was a bubble breach.

But according to latest developments, Dickwella and Mendis will be sent home following the breach. The third person to have breached the bubble, Gunathilaka, will also head home.

“Sri Lanka Cricket executive committee has suspended Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka & Niroshan Dickwella for breaching the bio- bubble and they will be immediately recalled to Sri Lanka,” SLC secretary Mohan De Silva said in a statement.

The tour will continue with the rest of the team taking part. The Sri Lankan team were unable to put up a fight in the T20I’s. The rampant English side blew the Lankans away 3-0. To add to that, there might be further pain for the Sri Lanka, with a 3-match ODI series coming up starting from June 29.
