Nitish Reddy’s first Test century at the MCG

The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground proved the perfect stage for Nitish Reddy to score his maiden Test century. The young batter rose to the occasion, delivering a remarkable knock under pressure. Notably, India was down to seven wickets when Nitish and Washington Sundar were at the crease.

Reddy had already showcased his talent with a few impressive performances earlier in the series. Nitish Reddy reached his full potential on Day 3 (Saturday, December 28) of the fourth Test, achieving his maiden Test century.

When rain interrupted play, Reddy was unbeaten on 105 off 176 balls, including 10 fours and a six, with a strike rate of 59.66. More importantly, his innings helped India avoid an early collapse and reduce the deficit. The visitors still trail by 116 runs with one wicket in hand.

After several promising but short-lived knocks, the young all-rounder showcased his ability to play a big innings and shoulder responsibility against a strong Australian bowling attack.
