[WATCH]- Pakistan Air Force Stages Stunning Air Show To Open 2025 Champions Trophy In Karachi

Ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy opener between Pakistan and New Zealand at Karachi’s National Stadium on Wednesday, February 19, the Pakistan Air Force put on an impressive air show to kick off the prestigious ICC event.

The air show, performed by the PAF Sherdil Squadron, took place at the venue, marking the official start of the 2025 Champions Trophy. The aerobatic display, featuring green and white colors, symbolized Pakistan’s flag.

Two special Pakistani-made aircraft, the JF-17 Thunder and F-16 fighter jets, also participated in the air show in Karachi, which occurred just before the action began as players from both teams took the field. You can watch then show here:

Pakistan and New Zealand are in Group A with Bangladesh and India, while Australia, South Africa, England, and Afghanistan are in the other group. The last Champions Trophy was held in 2017 in England, with Pakistan as the defending champions.

ICC event returns to Pakistan with 2025 Champions Trophy

The last time Pakistan hosted an ICC event was in 1996, when they co-hosted the ODI World Cup. They were set to host the 2009 Champions Trophy, but following a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore, they lost the hosting rights, and the tournament was moved to South Africa.

Pakistan also missed out on co-hosting the 2011 World Cup, which was held in India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. After nearly three decades, an ICC event returns to Pakistan with the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Matches for the event will be held at the National Stadium in Karachi, the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, and the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. However, not all games will be played in Pakistan, as India will play their matches in Dubai due to their refusal to travel to the host nation.
