Australia have taken an upper hand in the morning session of the first Test against India at the Adelaide Oval. India managed to recuperate well after losing Prithvi Shaw in the first over but Pat Cummins delivered a ripper of a delivery to get the better of Mayank Agarwal and put his side on top.
India suffered a massive blow losing Shaw early after opting to bat first in the pink-ball contest. Since then, Mayank and Cheteshwar Pujara looked solid and bailed their side out of danger leaving everything that was on offer outside the off-stump. The hosts tried all possible options to find a breakthrough but the Indian batsmen were rock solid apart from one or two half-chances.
Pat Cummins puts Australia on top
Australia skipper Tim Paine was looking to unleash Cameron Green, who is making his debut, into the attack but later, insisted to give Pat Cummins one last burst and the no.1 Test bowler proved why he is the best in the world. He slightly went wide and bowled a 141kph in-swinger on a good length.
Mayank Agarwal was good with his feet movements but the length was such he decided to stay flat-footed and poke his hands into a push. It resulted in a big bat-pad gate and Pat Cummins smacked the middle stump to give Australia a breakthrough.

Reeling at 32 for two, India have a massive task at hand and the onus will be on Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli to build a partnership and give put their side back in the mix of things. Kohli will have a separate urge as he will play this Test before returning to India to be with his wife Anushka Sharma as they expect the birth of their first child.
