[WATCH] Preity Zinta Overjoyed As PBKS Secure Top-Two Spot, Celebration Clip Goes Viral

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) registered a crucial seven-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, securing a top-two finish in the IPL points table for the first time in 11 years. Chasing a competitive target of 185, PBKS were guided by impressive half-centuries from Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis.

Their composed and aggressive partnership set the tone for the chase. With this win, PBKS sealed a place in Qualifier 1, while MI will now compete in Eliminator 1. The jubilant celebrations of team co-owner Preity Zinta, whose photos and videos went viral, reflected the team’s long-awaited achievement.

Priyansh and Inglis Dominate the Chase

PBKS started cautiously with Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opening the innings. Despite a slow start, Arya looked confident at the crease. After Prabhsimran’s dismissal by Jasprit Bumrah for 13, Josh Inglis joined Arya, and together they stabilized the innings.

The duo completed a 50-run stand in just 29 balls and powered PBKS to 89/1 at the halfway stage. Inglis launched an aggressive assault on Ashwani Kumar with three consecutive boundaries and soon reached his maiden IPL half-century in 30 balls. Arya also got to his fifty in the same over.

Their 100-run partnership came up by the 14th over. Arya’s innings ended at 62 off 35 balls, while Inglis added 73 off 42 before falling to Mitchell Santner. Captain Shreyas Iyer and Nehal Wadhera ensured there were no hiccups, as Iyer finished the match with a six in the 19th over.

Mumbai’s Efforts Fall Short Despite Suryakumar’s Fifty

Earlier, MI posted a respectable total of 184/6, thanks to a steady fifty from Suryakumar Yadav and a quick cameo by Naman Dhir. Openers Rohit Sharma and Ryan Rickleton provided a cautious start before Rickleton was dismissed for 27.

Rohit’s struggle continued as he was dismissed for 24 by Harpreet Brar. At the halfway mark, MI stood at 83/2. Suryakumar anchored the innings with a composed 50, his fifth of the season. Hardik Pandya contributed 26, and Naman Dhir added a rapid 20.

PBKS bowlers Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh, and Vijaykumar Vyshak picked two wickets each, keeping MI from accelerating further. Despite a strong effort, MI’s total proved insufficient against PBKS’s solid chase.
