Prithvi Shaw carried on his good domestic form into the IPL. He scored an impressive 72 in Delhi’s Capitals IPL 2021 campaign opener against Chennai Super Kings. In the process, he added a 138-run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan as Delhi chased down 189 needed for victory inside 19 overs and won by seven wickets. They are topping the table courtesy of a better net run rate (+0.779) than RCB with 2 points.

Meanwhile, after the game, in an interaction with Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw showed his favorite dance moves. The video was posted on the official Twitter handle of IPL as well. He taught Dhawan how to do a “duggie” in a fun session.

Prithvi Shaw had a forgetful IPL 2020. He scored 228 runs in 13 games last season at an average of 17.53. The weakness in his batting technique was badly exposed in the season which was then exposed even more in the first Test against Australia in Adelaide. He was then dropped from the Indian Test side and kept out from the white-ball squads as well.

The Mumbai batsmen then worked on his technique with Delhi Capitals batting coach Pravin Amre. He scored over 827 runs in eight games for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare trophy just before the IPL. He also hit four centuries in the process, as he took center stage in the tournament. He finished as the highest run-getter in the season.

After the end of the game, he spoke about how he worked with Pravin Amre to get his technique sorted.

“From Australia when I was dropped I was working from there itself, coming back and across early, so I practised before going to Vijay Hazare with Pravin Amre and worked on that. I had a good plan before going into that tournament, so it is working quite well” said Prithvi Shaw.

Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad face off against Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL 2021 season opener in Chennai on Sunday.
