Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni had a poor start to his IPL 2021 campaign getting out for a duck against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Super Kings also lost the match by seven wickets to start the tournament on a losing cause. The three-time IPL champions will have to bounce back from the next game and improve their performance from the last season.

Chennai finished seventh in the points table in the UAE and failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time ever since the start of the tournament. MS Dhoni also endured a poor run managing only 200 runs from 12 matches which didn’t include a single fifty. The former India cricketer would have looked to get a good start after a couple of brilliant net sessions leading up to the tournament; however, Dhoni failed to provided his side with the momentum.

He got out for a second-ball duck where Chennai lost the momentum after a Suresh Raina show which cost Chennai Super Kings the game. MS Dhoni; thus, now have four ducks under his belt with his last duck coming six years ago against Mumbai. Meanwhile, social media went ablaze after Dhoni’s poor outing with the bat and he started trending on Twitter.

The ball from Avesh Khan skidded through in line with the stumps. There was not exactly a true bounce, and MS Dhoni threw his weight behind the pull only for the ball to kiss his under-edge and it crashed into the stumps, lighting up the bails in a flash.

Speaking of the game, Delhi Capitals bowlers did a good job to restrict Chennai Super Kings below 200 after a Suresh Raina show. But it was the Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan show at the Wankhede Stadium that took the game away from Chennai with seven wickets in hand. Delhi now have secured three wins on the bounce against the Super Kings.
