[WATCH]- Rahul Chahar Takes Two Wickets In Consecutive Deliveries, Removing Gaikwad And Shivam Dube

Punjab Kings (PBKS) spinner Rahul Chahar has bounced back into form by taking two wickets off the first two balls of his spell against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 5.

CSK had been building a strong partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Daryl Mitchell. Despite a good end to the powerplay, the visitors were at 69/1 after seven overs when Sam Curran introduced Chahar into the attack.

Chahar’s first delivery, a length ball outside off, was one that Gaikwad typically handles well. However, on this occasion, the opener edged it to the wicketkeeper, where Jitesh Sharma completed a sharp catch.

Next up for Rahul Chahar was the formidable Shivam Dube. The southpaw had a disappointing outing in the previous match, falling for a golden duck to Chahar’s spin partner, Harpreet Brar, at Chepauk.

Unfortunately for Dube, history repeated itself as he suffered another golden duck, falling in a similar fashion to his captain, the ball before.

Attempting to cut the wrong’un towards the off-side, Dube only managed to edge the ball, which the wicketkeeper comfortably held onto. You can watch both dismissals here:

Chahar nearly secured a third wicket in the over when Moeen Ali’s shot against the wrong’un connected with the toe end of the bat. The bowler had a chance for a return catch but couldn’t reach the ball despite diving, missing out on the challenging opportunity to capitalize.

Rahul Chahar is in excellent form since making a comeback to PBKS’ starting lineup in IPL 2024

The leg-spinner had a challenging start to the season, managing only two wickets in his initial three outings. Following a disappointing performance where he conceded 42 runs in three overs during PBKS’ defeat to the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on the road, he was dropped from the team.

Rahul Chahar made a comeback to the playing XI nearly a month later for the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens.

In a high-scoring encounter that saw over 520 runs scored, Chahar finished with figures of 1/33, claiming the crucial wicket of Sunil Narine. He continued his impressive form with a match-winning performance against CSK in Chennai, taking two wickets for a mere 16 runs.
