[WATCH]- Ravichandran Ashwin Dismisses Both England Openers On Day 3 Of His 100th Test

Experienced Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, known for his affinity for bowling with the new ball, showcased his effectiveness once more on Day 3 of the ongoing Test against England in Dharamsala.

Partnering with Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwin secured the dismissals of England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley, contributing to pushing the visitors on the back foot in the Test. Ashwin adeptly exploited the grip off the surface, demonstrating the skills of a world-class bowler.

Duckett aimed to establish an aggressive tone with a ‘Bazball’ approach, attempting to aggressively hit Ravichandran Ashwin through the covers by dancing down the track. Unfortunately, he ended up yorking himself in the process, resulting in the ball hitting the off-stump.

The left-hander had to depart, nearly gifting his wicket to the hosts. You can watch the dismissal video here:

Crawley, who has been England’s standout batsman in the series, has frequently faced challenges from Ashwin. The off-spinner gained grip from an over-the-wicket angle, leading Crawley to attempt a flick behind square.

Unfortunately, he mistimed the shot, sending the ball straight into the hands of Sarfaraz Khan at leg slip. As a result, Crawley had to depart without scoring in the second innings.

Ashwin has solidified his effectiveness against the two England openers, claiming Zak Crawley’s wicket five times and Ben Duckett an impressive seven times in Test cricket.

Ravichandran Ashwin made things worse for England by getting Ollie Pope out

England was counting on vice-captain Ollie Pope to form a substantial partnership with star batsman Joe Root to steer them out of trouble. However, Ravichandran Ashwin had another strategic move ready. Using a delivery with significant sidespin, the off-spinner enticed Pope into a sweep shot.

Pope, forced to fetch the ball from outside the off-stump due to its lack of turn, could only manage a top edge. Yashasvi Jaiswal completed an excellent running catch in the square leg region. In his 100th Test, Ashwin continues to demonstrate why he is indispensable to the Indian Test team.
