Watch – Ravindra Jadeja Holds On To A Good Catch Despite Collision To Remove Matthew Wade

Team India has made a perfect start in the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as they look to bounce back in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After Jasprit Bumrah removed Joe Burns, Ravichandran Ashwin removed the other opener Matthew Wade thanks to a brilliant catch by Ravindra Jadeja despite a minor collision with debutant Shubman Gill.

After put to bowl first, India have shown a lot of confidence to put the Aussies on the back foot with two early strikes. They have removed both their openers in quick time to make a good start. Jasprit Bumrah, in particular, was impeccable with his line and length testing the Australian openers before Joe Burns edged one to Rishabh Pant after a shaky start.

Ravindra Jadeja holds onto a brilliant catch

Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Ajinkya Rahane shocked everyone bringing in his senior spinner Ravichandran Ashwin as the first change bowler ahead of debutant Mohammed Siraj. And his bravado has already paid rich dividends. Matthew Wade tried to outdo Ashwin early in his attack but in trying to do threw his wicket thanks to a brilliant catch by Ravindra Jadeja.

The southpaw decided to do it by charging down the pitch and hoicking him downtown. But he was nowhere close to the pitch of it, miscues it high up, and the only hope he had of surviving this brainwave was for mid-wicket and mid-on to collide into this one. And they almost did. Ravindra Jadeja the mid-wicket and Gill the mid-on but trust Jadeja to steal the fielding honours and only he can hold onto those.

Ravindra Jadeja shrugged off his shoulder to the youngster at first but in the end, it was all smiles from the Indian cricketers, who have looked a lot more composed in the field after a horrendous fielding effort in the Adelaide Test.
